Weddings Unveiled Magazine — Fall 2012 Issue {published}

Look at the loveliness that I found in my mailbox earlier this week — an envelope containing copies of the Fall 2012 issue of Weddings Unveiled Magazine:  The finest resource for inspired wedding style!  Weddings Unveiled is a gorgeous magazine and we were graciously invited to advertise in their publication.  First, the beautiful cover photo by Brooke Thomas of Weddings Unveiled.

And here is our lovely ad — it turned out so well!  (We’re on page 119 and many thanks to our lovely bride, Kim!)

Go out and get a copy today, or at least take a look through their on-line magazine….So much beauty in one place!

Ayame + Carling {elopement wedding} The Homestead

I first received an e-mail from Ayame saying that she just loved our work and that our style was just what she was looking for for her wedding!  And….they were having a non-traditional wedding — eloping at The Homestead luxury resort and spa in Hot Springs, Virginia!!!  How fun and exciting, and especially intriguing, as this would be my first time photographing an elopement wedding.  I was so very honored to be chosen to photograph their wedding day!

Ayame and Carling are from opposite ends of the country and they met while both working on Capitol Hill in Washington, DC.  And now they currently live in New Orleans, so this was also a destination wedding for them.  They previously took a short vacation trip to The Homestead and knew that it was the perfect location for them to get married.  The Homestead is so classy and timeless, as are Ayame and Carling, but they also brought a joy and playfulness that was so refreshing to witness.

The view of the mountains was breathtaking, but more pictures of their ceremony later in this post….

I met Carling in the Crystal Room of the resort and he waited in anticipation of seeing his bride for the first time.

Ayame looked GORGEOUS!

They exchanged gifts before their ceremony.  This image of Carling is a peek into his personality and the great fun that these two share together.

A watch for Carling and earrings for Ayame.

I will say it over and over….Ayame was absolutely stunning!!!  And LOVE her dress and shoes!

This is such a pretty ballroom.

A few photos out on the front porch….

And I must say that I loved Carling’s bow tie. :)  My grandpa used to wear bow ties for special occasions and it always touches my heart when I see one being worn.

Pretty, pretty hair accessory too.

And THIS was the location of their ceremony….high on a hillside, by The Homestead Gun Club, with spectacular views!

Exchanging vows.

Exchanging rings.

What’s the first thing that you do after eloping?  Well, you take a picture, of course, and share it on Facebook! :)

Cute sign that they brought along and another picture for Facebook.  And aren’t they just the cutest couple?!

They were married on the fourth day of the month and Carling is the IV in his family to share his name.  We had to move from that location fast, as some bees were getting a little too friendly!

Back down at the resort, there were so many wonderful places for pictures.

LOVE the emotion and joy in this shot.

A funny little story here….The Homestead has a beautiful room with an indoor pool and it was so beautiful that we wanted to take a few pictures there.  Well, there was an older woman swimming laps at the same time and I think that she wasn’t quite sure what was going on. :)

Love these two shots of Carling in the library.

A little more fun….

Ayame and Carling, it was such a pleasure meeting both of you on your wedding day and sharing in your lives for a few hours!  It was such a lovely day!
